Yes, I do visit these places quite a bit. I have stopped counting how many times I have gone to visit. I think they should give me my own parking spot though!! I am very spoiled - by being able to see so much WIN from BMW in Germany. Luckily the internet makes it easy to share what I see (over here) with all of you guys(all over the world). ![]() Dack |

Well done!
I love this bonnet! ![]() I would suspect that you can contact Tuninwerk directly or even IND here in the U.S. to source any of the parts! ![]()

interested in info regarding the half cage installed in the car. Doesn't look like the BR racing one. Nice setup though.

Pretty cool, but I still prefer the original safety car over this one, any day!

However, for a $156k sticker, i'd EXPECT a FULLY built race spec engine, head and bottom end, the works, with 500bhp being a conservative power level due to stock or stock-like turbos The only cool thing about it is 'oooh fancy 1m'.. The price is ludicrous. Ed: stock pedals even, tart it up a bit won't you!?! |

1M's N54 internals has been strengthened by the M division, in addition to higher output tune/map plus additional cooling, so it is a yes. Makes it the most tune friendly N54 version.

The engine software tuning was done by BMW race car engineers. It took a very long time to get it just right. From October ’09 to December ’10. Dr. Segler is confident with N54 1M engine reliability. This engine had to pass bench and Nürburgring track tests for reliability before it was signed off by BMW M to be used in the 1 Series M Coupe. He said the closest part of track in America, that resembles the Ring, is the kink at Road America. He said multiply that times 70 corners over 13 miles and you will see why it demands so much from a car." "BMW 1M underrated and offering M3 power - First dyno's reveal 1M puts down 346 wheel horsepower with intake. It is nice to see BMW at least gave the 1M a little more in the tune over a standard N54. They obviously could have put out much more if they wanted to. 346 wheel horsepower in STD correction is pretty darn good for with an intake. That is basically M3 power right there. The car is rated at 335 crank so when a vehicle is putting out more to the wheels than it is rated at the motor that is definitely what we call underrated. This leads us to believe the reason the 1M did not get the DCT transmission is it would have stepped all over the M3's toes." Someone (OE Tuning) found out that the 1M fuel and ignition maps appear to be identical to the Alpina N54 setup, whereas a regular N54 is entirely different. Hence the wild rumor question who got the 1M setup from whom: either BMW provided the N54 setup to Alpina in the past and BMW recycled it in 2010 for the 1M (no reliability issues), or Alpina developed the N54 setup in the past and provided it to BMW for the 1M. As we all know, the time window for developing the 1M was pretty tight. Of course everything could be mere coincidence. ![]() Video in first post of the following thread - 1M presentation slide 12:04: "M-specific piston rings and software" http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533082
