Took the car for some highway cruising the other day in 24 degree temps and the oil temp stayed at 95. Even with a few hard pulls it didn't budge. My old 135i would normally sit just over 100 degrees during highway driving in similar conditions.

There's nothing like having a bunnings warehouse within 2 minutes from home.

Agreed.

Whatever the case this is a great mod for this over-tempered N54.

I'm not surprised you guys are experiencing good results with the BMS thermostat. I think the key to lower temps is deleting/replacing the stock thermostat.

If I'm not mistaken the key difference between the advan stage 1 and 2 is the larger setrab core and the addition of an lower temp thermostat. I'm not sure if the larger core is necessary, but the thermostat is what's keeping the oil cool.

I think this BMS thermostat is really good value considering what it offers. I think the ultimate mod would be an option to turn it on and off via canbus, but we can't have it all

All jokes aside, I think all N54's need hood venting for heat dissipation.

Cant see why not..

Can guarantee the new M4 will have functional hood venting to keep the air temps down.

Most probably due to MT. I don't know any forum members having heat issues with 1Ms
