Stretch : Dunlop Direzza DZ101 or Hankook Ventus V12

I have new rims coming in and in search of new tires.
Wanted some advice about stretch of the two mentioned.

I'm prob gonna get them at Tirerack as they offer good delivery service and price, thus have come down to these 2 options.

Primary factors are cost and stretch.

As for cost they really don't differ that much so that's ok.

The wheel specs are 8.5 +38 19" for the fronts,
and thinking running 215/35/19.

Rears are of more mild offsets thus no issue,
so will decide upon the brand which will stretch better
(to avoid possible rubbing) with 215 width on 8.5J in the front.

Thanks for advice

People on these forums tend to be very anti-stretch. I personally kinda like it as long as its not "too much" ...

My summer tires in front are 215/35/19 over the same size wheels and the stretch isn't bad at all. The star specs will have better grip than the V12s but might not be available in that size (i think they have a more limited variety but who knows). They have much squarer shoulders than the V12s, though, so they would be a little more annoying. Your passenger side might still want to rub if you're lowered and the steering wheel is turned to the left, but there's a plastic grated piece in the front of the wheel well covering up an oil cooler that you can take off for some extra clearance.

my bad, all i saw was dunlop a "z" and a "1" lol. they still have pretty square / board shoulders, though, same as the dz1's.

Thanks for comment guys

I know some people on this forum are anti stretch lol

Well, each to their own, so

Seems to me like as you said Dunlops tend to be more square-shouldered than Hankooks...

I don't want to roll fenders or mod inner wheel housing and such, so would like to have the best clearance possible with the widest width.

Thanks!!!!

Is your suspension really low? I don't mind stretched tires but I prefer them stretched pretty equally front and rear. I don't think most 225/35/19s on an 8.5 et 38 would rub unless you are really lowered an inch or more and not running much camber.

My specs are in my signature. I'm pretty low in the front (fenders slightly lower than the top of my tires), running right at 2deg camber each side. For my next fronts I plan to try Michelin PSS 225/35/19. I actually do assume I will rub a little.

I don't have any experience with the exact model tires you mentioned but this is my second car with aggressive wheels and I have had issues with Dunlop Sports and Hankook 105s? running bigger than other tires that I typically used.

Good luck either way, rubbing tires are a pain, but then again so are stretched tires and curbs, etc.

I would not suggest the Hankooks, as the sidewalls are not very stiff at all and are built with a bit of a "bulge".

While this is fine for most people, I don't believe it would work out well for you for a stretched setup.

I would suggest Nitto Invos or Toyo Proxies, myself.

I posted in your other thread, but I'll repost my response here.

Personally, I prefer the Hankooks. They stretch pretty nicely actually, and should easily fit on that wheel width. The only downside is that the sidewalls are very soft on this tire, but the DZ101s are pretty similar in that regard. I was happy with my Hankooks when I had them.

I would not say I am extremely lowered, but I think more lowered than what I see as average in this forum. My fender is lower than tire surface at the moment ( I'm on winter set up with OEMs)

I think I'm going with 215 for safety, I like the stretch look anyway, so. lol

Yes I got good impression through my search that Toyos are good for stretch, but they are a little pricier...

One of the other options that I thought of was Yokohama S drive, but 215/35/19 sizes Yokohama is having too much stock and they are trying to sell out their 06 year right now, and neither Tirerack or Discount Tire does not have newer year ones.. WTF I wouldnt want to be running 6-7 yr old tires...

sorry to bring up this thread and use it guys, it seems pretty knowledgeable though.

i have a thread going cause i have VMR 18's (8.5+45 and 9.5+45) and i'm having terrible rubbing even after a fender roll front and back. the fronts still rub on my bumper and the back rub on most bumps. i went with proxes r1r's and love em but they raised the car like an inch haha.. (225/40/18 and 255/35/18)
i'm thinking about ventus v12's or michelin pss's

which should i get?? my car is lowered on h&r sports and koni yellows

i was thinkin about doing a 215 front and 245 rear?? would that get rid of my rub, maybe??

R1Rs run larger than most tires. Hankooks are oriented at the everyday driver, so they are not super wide. Most would consider them true/on the narrower side. PSS run wider than the Hankooks.

I think if you went with the Hankooks in a 225/40/18 front and 245/35/18 rear you would be okay. 255s might be doable though since you rolled your quarters.

Okay. Thanks a ton for the input I think I'm gonna try the pss cause it seems to be a better tire for track days and if it doesn't work I'll go hankook.
