World's fastest 1M Coupe by AC Schnitzer sets best BMW time ever on Sachsenring

Autobild takes the AC Schnitzer 1M Coupe on the Sachsenring to record some best runs. The car features 400hp / 560 Nm torque, custom brake kit, exhaust system aero kit.

The AC Schnitzer 1M laptime of 1:35,84 seconds on the Sachsenring makes it the fastest BMW ever to go round this track. The laptime is:

- over 4 seconds faster than stock 1M
- faster than 997 GT3 and M3 GTS
- 1.0 sec slower than Lambo Aventador
- 1.5 sec slower than Ferrari 458

With 'just 400HP' and a nice setup this is proof the 1M is basically an excellent trackday racer. Kudos to Schnitzer.

Faster than for example a 997GT3, M3 GTS and only 1.5s slower than a 458.

And exactly 1 sec slower than an Aventador.

How can it be faster than a 997GT3? That seems hard to believe with nothing more than 400 crank hp, better brakes and a few aero bits. I'm wondering if the car also has improved suspension and sticky tires.

they definitely improved suspension and tries... on such short tracks the suspension plays a major role IMO.

Did you check the link Robin posted? It is merely a second off the pace of Aventador and like 2 seconds off from the GT3 RS 4.0! and track record holder is only 2.3 secs away, a GT2 RS. It holds the ninth position with this time and faster than many many exotics.

Definitely a specially prepared one that 1M. But I don't think that it is impossible a 1M can be faster than a M3 GTS after necessary tweaks applied.

By the way, if they would find an equally talented driver half the weight of that guy (which shouldn't be impossible) probably that 1M would be going for the track record or something

Strange. ACS doesn't mention anything about gearing changes in their brochure.

I requested a price quote for their tune and they want $6,895 USD. I told them that was almost 4 times the price of Dinan and they told me they would get back to me as they are usually only double the price of Dinan.

I was thinking the same thing. There is also a lot of gear whine in the video. Almost reminiscent of straight cut gearing.

- the ACS 1M has a shortened transmission, dunlop direzza semi-slicks, and clubsport lowering springs

The whine noise you hear sounds like the transmission. I'm sure they put hardened or solid transmission mounts in it.
