Waste gate actuating arm connection

I meant to ask this question a long while ago but here goes....the last time I threw my car on the lift to adjust the waste gate actuator arm I was going to replace the round connector at the end of the arm with one off a brand new actuator. Others have pointed out how it ovals over time and this is definitely the case.

When I went to do this I noticed that the hole was too small to go around the waste gate mounting point. So I didn't replace it. Has anyone else noticed this? Should I have just monkey fisted it on? Thanks!!!
