First you are looking at coilovers @ $2.5K a CORNER which for that kind of money would be primarily designed for a track focused car......
Then on the flip side you are looking at bags which are for hard parked cars who want the slammed look, with little to no focus on handling.
Sometimes I think you and Flinchy just like to post stuff like this to get people to react.
Anyway.....
If you are serious stick to a brand of coils that are tried and tested and don't cost an arm and a leg. Besides you're driving ability will be the limiting factor not the coils, KW v2 are a nice place to start.
Is this going to be a track focused car? Are you a professional driver with very consistent lap times, hoping to shave tenths off your times? If yes then go ahead and buy the boutique coils. If not but want a nice drop and improved handling for spirited driving buy KW V1 or V2.
I wouldn't touch bags....
My 2 cents
MCA @ ~8k

or

KW/Bilstein @ <2k & 2years of track entry fees.

If you have to ask about MCA and don't have hours under your belt, don't waste money chasing tenths.

MCA for the win. However, Murray is happy to put whatever you want on the car.

$8k for coilovers on a car with next to no mods?? Hmm no offence but that's like putting a marble staircase in a shitty fibro house....

You would have a much better package with a LSD, KW's/BC's/ohlins and some m3 sways camber arms etc and some decent rubber rather then $8k coilovers and shitty soft oem bushing open diff etc.....

Or maybe I'm modding my car as what I want becomes available, hence I'm asking now so I can decide what to do

And regardless an LSD an M3 sway bar is the exact opposite of what I want to do

TIL: coilovers aren't mods

$8,000 on coilovers for a 135 is like bringing a gun to a knife fight, or building an 8 bedroom mansion in Woodridge or putting an n54 in a 130...

Overkill and a waste of money

You do realize that my boyfriend is the one doing the n54 swap into the 130 right? o_O

Regardless, since when does everyone have to subscribe to the same mods as every other tom dick and Harry
I'll do what I like because it's my car and it only matters that I like it

you mean a great idea?

if an N54 E87 is overkill, then an N54 E82 is overkill

... if $8k coilovers on a 135i are a bad idea, then i'll assume $8k coilovers on any 90's jap car is flat out retarded?

For those people who is a bit ignorant, MCA Gold is a custom suspension solution, and not just a set of coil overs. You are paying for the expertise of Murray Coote.

Murray Coote's suspension is considered to be just one step below TX40 Ohlins. However, they are now making cheaper versions, the red and blue as a standard coilovers for specific cars.

I spoke to Josh from MCA re: red and blue series (friends boyfriend) he flat out said they won't be doing red and blue for 1ers so realistically gold is my only option if I do want to go with them

And like I said, I would rather go a custom set up, spend a little more, and get it done correctly than install any crappy coilovers and half arse it

I wouldn't say there's many "crappy" options out there for a 135 to be honest.

"Doing it once and doing it right" still doesn't justify the cost of the 8k suspension setup on a car that will probably never get any track time.

Purely for aesthetics only. 8k is a lot of money for a drop.

Actually best mod for a 135i. The suspension is the weakest point and if you are using on a race track, that is what shaves time.

However, I do have to say putting a MCA suspension for a novice is actually quite dangerous. The more feedback you can give Murray, the better your suspension will be for the car.

Is the time you will save on a time attack course worth 2k to 8k? No.

yup, but that was with their original gold.. with their new 4-way gold stuff... well i wouldn't be surprised if it was pretty similar to the TX40 4way stuff?

it's a pity the red and blues won't come to the euros probably ever.. would much prefer them to BC's or KW's for the same price.
