2009 335i Cobb Stage 1 93 Octane

Hello everyone,

Just installed my Cobb stage 1 without any problems whatsoever. I am very impressed, although I do not have the ability to compare it with other tunes, I can say that it is very strong. For some reason, auto transmission, first gear can be rough sometimes when upshifting under WOT but I partly attribute that to the car not being able to adapt fully yet, drove maybe 15 to 20 miles. Third gear is brutal, it seems to almost pull harder than 1st or 2nd. Car basically becomes completely different past 3000 rpms. I have witnessed on the Cobb display unit a psi spike of 16 and once it jumped up to 20, but I dont know if that is normal. I cleared one code starting with a 2 or f or something that is supposedly normal. Car has 15000 miles on it, original hpfp, injectors, turbos and wastegates. What is strange is that at this power level you begin to notice the stock sport suspension being unable to cope with the extra power. Great tune I purchased it from Top Gear solutions, Jeff is the man, I ordered it the fifth and got it today. Great service and great price.

Thanks for reading!

I am also running the most updated software, it is sensitive but I can get used to it. Also, anyone else have a hard 1st gear upshift and high psi spike?

Hey thanks for your order. Glad you are enjoying it.

Those spikes you see are probably shift spikes. However, they are harmless.

This is because boost is measured before the throttle body. When the there is throttle closure post shift the boost pressure reading gets turbulence inducing a false inflated boost reading.

To get a more accurate reading its best to have a manual boost gauge in the manifold, but not necessary at all.

Don't worry about those boost spikes, they're there even on the stock tune. And as explained above, your turbos are not boosting 20 PSI

comparing a stage 1 tune vs. procede is pointless

do you disagree? Is it logical to compare a stage 1 tune such as cobb to a procede that has the ability to run much higher boost? Its like comparing an SSTT to JB3/JB4/Procede... does that make sense to you? If it does, Id be interested in hearing your conclusions.

I cleared the code no problem with the AP.

That is unbelievable with that procede dyno, my Cobb feels fast to me.

One observation, well two, my car had a heavy gasoline smell today after I got in it again.

Also, are the turbos going to be louder with Cobb, because they are a lot lounder and make this almost howling sound but it's faint.

According to another post, his Cobb tune was running over 16psi peak boost on the dyno.

As we both know. Guessing at peek boost is pointless. You and I both know the procede is running more boost and timing on that car.

Cheers,
Rob

Yes, the COBB tune does disable the Electronic speed limiter

And dor the record, beside the short period where boost is above 14PSI (period that spans less than a 1000rpms), I see a sustained 13 PSI of boost

Rob@cobb, not to be rude but I was not guessing. It was off of a datalog from the accessport. Unless you mean the accessport is quessing? So are the datalogs from the accessport not correct? Thx

We are talking about peak boost vs. sustained boost. The Procede is more aggressive than the Cobb Stage 1 tune; thats why it makes more power, it has higher sustained boost. Difficult concept to understand?

Turkish can you read or is it you can't comprehend what you read? Rob said about guessing peak boost! He said nothing about peak vs sustained.
