other ways to tell for minor boost leaks?

Hey all,

I just had my FMIC installed recently and got a drop in filter for my stock airbox and i'm planning on tuning my car in the near future, current boost about 8.5-8.7 psi.

Im not saying that i have one, but more so as a precautionary Question. Aside from the hearing the sound for leaks, having a boost gauge or doing pressurization, smoke, and/or soap tests. Are there OTHER tell tale signs of knowing when you have one? Will mileage be affected a great deal even with small leaks?

I guess my question is more directed to those have have experienced this.

Thanks
