Ha, no worries
The difference is that if you take out insurance that is covered by Australia Post AND the original shipping agency (not by DHL etc. where the insurance is covered door-to-door by the one company), then the price of domestic delivery/insurance is calculates as part of the CV.
As an example, say you bought something from a private vendor in the US for $950AUD.
Shipping costs say $200.
The private vendor decides to ship via USPS which when lands in Australia gets handled by Aus Post. The cost of shipping and handling (and insurance if applicable) from the boat when it docks in Australia to your door is included as part of the Customs Value. So if it costs more than $50 of that $200 for Australia Post's handling and insurance, then that would put the CV over $1000 and you may be liable for GST and Duty.
