Dex 6 fluids are thinner as a whole than dex 3 fluids were, but really it's just a matter of shear resistance - dex 3 type ATF sheared down to around the dex 6 spec over time.

Id prefer a heavier film for protection, since ATF type mtf is a compromise to begin with.

But I'm not sure practically speaking that at low temps dex 3 (the D4 product) flows substantially different than dex 6 (the D6 product) does.
