When we used to have all Mercedes back when Mercedes were better than BMW
(up until 2000) and MBZ switched to the "smart key"...I did the same thing (several times). You're lucky you figured it out before calling BMW. I unfortunately, did not figure it out the first time, and called MBZ roadside. It's amazing how fast they can arrive when there is really no problem, and when the roadside visit makes you look like a complete ass
