I would also consider a pickup or SUV, something with more ground clearance and capabilities the 1M doesn't have. The SUV would comfortably carry 4-5 people (or more) and luggage, for instance. An X3 would still be entertaining to drive. A properly set up car will be fine unless you need to go through an unplowed area or a pile of snow pushed up by the plow. For those situations you need more ground clearance. A subaru might be OK, not sure of their ground clearance. I also have a SUV as a second vehicle for towing boats and utility trailers.
