Well, if I'm running around town (summer time), temps don't seem temps go above 195, oil or water. This is the first time the car sat at an idle for any amount of time like that (only had it 6 months) and when I was done with my visit to a friends body shop, the car was at about 220. It dropped down to 180 on my ride home (temps were about 55 that day). I did not notice any fans running when I cam out unless the radiator fan is that quiet.

When I go home I let it idle again till the temp was at around 200 - 210, fan did not come on. I turned on the AC at max and the fan came on but not for long. I assume the ambient temps had allot to do with that.

I guess my concern is if this seems normal? I'm not sure what normal water temps should be at the return hose to the radiator or if the fan should be coming on at that point or not. I have always had muscle cars so my knowledge with BMW's are not as extensive.
