From what I read on the e46 forums, two AR20's remove all rasp and the rest of the exhaust has no resonator. So I figure if the AR20's serve their purpose, I will either hack off the stock resonator or replace it with SS pipes.

may increase flow but the secondary cats are likely a very low cell cat so I'm not sure how much of a gain you'll get out of just replacing them with AR20 resonators but if it's just a reduction in rasp you're after I have no experience with those parts.
