I highly recommend tracking down a 5" or longer 5mm allen wrench before you get started. It'll allow you to keep the strut assembly as low as possible while tightening the bottom nuts, which would have been well worth the five bucks. The vice grip method with a standard allan wrench was fiddly.

I'm tackling this soon. I think I follow the three posts all together, but could you clarify the instructions in step 10 regarding pre-loading the suspension prior to final torque? It sounds as if the OP is stating to just raise the car off the jack stand by jacking up the suspension from the brake disc, then lowering back onto the stand, then torque. Is that all there is to it?

Also, my car has 54,000 on her. If I wanted to go ahead and replace the strut mounts with new ones, would it be possible to do that now?
