I actually used a similar tutorial style article to begin my approach. I had considered(and still do) cutting much higher and conforming the flare to the car as well as sitting it down on the wheels vice fitting the flares around the wheels at OEM height.
Perhaps in the future, but I think I'll start fresh and definitely wider given the mounting points will be on a more narrow portion of the chassis. If I ever take the leap to converting the car to track duty, at least I'll have some novice skills in this area.
