The company that makes the boost tester says you can use the turbo inlet pipe if you buy a new inlet gasket and replace it as that will help it hold pressure much better. I still don’t think this is the best place to test it.

What I’m planning on doing for testing is taking off the inlet pipe, feeding the intercooler, then putting one of the ballooning bulbs down in the intercooler intake and inflating it and using a pressurized smoke machine. Those don’t get really high-pressure but I do think they can get to 10 or 15 PSI, which should at least give a pretty good indication.

I have a regular smoke machine and might see what kind of pressure that can build and buy one of the balloon attachments that let you feed a hose through the center while the balloons seals the inside of the pipe.

Realize when you test it this way, you would be skipping the turbo outlet pipe/charge pipe that feeds the intercooler, but I think it’s about the best you could do. I’m considering accessing the intercooler under the car by dropping it slightly, taking off the charge pipe on the inlet and then just slipping the bulb in there and inflating it if that makes sense.
