you couldnt be more wrong.
they know the market. the majority of luxury car buyers simply have to have REAL leather or else their buddies at the yacht club would scoff at them for having leatherette.
the car companies make a killing on the markup because it most certainly doesnt cost them that much extra to cover the seats in leather versus 'ette.
leatherette has many known advantages to real leather, mainly the durability, but the majority of consumers have been trained to think leather = :thumbup: and leatherette/vinyl =
, regardless of what any research evidence may show. leather may have some advantages, but $2k is a hefty price to pay just to be able to say "rich west african wooly mammoth leather"
they know people will pay for it, so they charge for it. they arent going to refuse to take your money if customers are going to toss it at them willingly.
