I don’t quite follow you.
In the following diagram, part #7 is the triangular mount that is on the windshield. That mates with a female on the stalk of the mirror. To fit the stalk over the mount, you have to fit the stalk over the mount by rotating the mirror approximately 30 degrees to get it over the mount. Once over the mount, you lock the mirror in place by turning the mirror stalk back to 12 o’clock or straight up and down.
