I did this on my porsche. I used a soldering iron to melt a hole in the amber part and then you chip away at it with a set of needle nose pliers and remove the same. Just make sure you don't scratch the reflectors inside. E.g. do it while facing them up. It was petty easy on the P car. Took about 25 min. I can't comment on the 1 as I haven't seen how they are assembled but don't see why you can't do the same.
