Why is everyone looking to buy so early?

I'm genuinely curious - I'd planned to buy in late September, or maybe early October from Tirerack (also because I expect the CAD to appreciate slightly between now and then). Is there a risk that Tirerack will be out of stock by late September? Or is that more of a concern with local tire shops?
