I am not sure if they are 'shady' or they just ever bothered to look. I don't think they would lie I hopefully don't return. You wouldn't tell someone you couldn't find the key until you try to find it. Certainly they are pretty slack in following it up.

I guess up to you what you want to do. The likelihood that someone is going to empty your car out, that's very low. But as there is still a possibility of that happening, it would be up to what you are comfortable with. If you did loose everything, you know the liable party is your dealer - I guess that gives you a chance to buy new stuff.
