I had this same issue last week and they put in a new 943 HPFP and new software. I first had issues several months ago when I had about 2000 miles on it and mine was replaced at 3,600 miles. The car functions the same as prior with no fuel pump issues. No noticeable lack of performance or no noticeable lag increase. Performs as it should. I just hope to maintain reliability now and I would be happy.
My dealer was great handling this issue. As soon as the SES light came on I called my SA and they immediately took it in. I limped it to the dealer by short shifting it, since it would bog down at revs much more than 3k. They had a 2009 Z4 hard top vert waiting for me. I had my 135i back in two working days.
