Hey guys!
Here's some installation tips that can work on our spoiler or an OEM BMW performance spoiler as well. Stiff spoilers that are fiberglass reinforced probably won't stick like this, because the ends will want to come up.
Installing the spoiler is a joke! We send it pre-taped in all the crucial areas, so you literally peel, make sure the ends line up (use a buddy) and stick it on!
This spoiler DOES NOT need beta link due to the fact that it bends to the curvature of the trunk. It's not fiberglass reinforced, just a thin-enough full carbon piece, so it is very flexible and easy to work with.
I don't think I would ever use betalink to attach something; it's incredibly messy and permanent!
Put enough 3M tape to hold it firmly, but not to overdo it, because a lot of guys want to take the spoiler off for lease returns, changing to something else, etc.
For a more "permanent" solution, just apply some more 3M tape in the areas we don't pre-tape.
Tips:
1) Make sure the area where you will stick this on is cleaned properly and ALL OLD TAPE from the factory spoiler is removed. You can use Goo-gone or a similar product to help.
2) You will then need to clear the application area of any oils or waxes that will hinder the performance of the 3M tape. To do this use a 50/50 mix of Isopropyl alcohol to water. Use it to clean the application area and dry it off with a microfiber.
3) Use a buddy to line up one side while you line up the other.
4) Once installed where it needs to be, use some strips of painters tape to tape the spoiler to the trunk overnight while the 3M tape cures. This step isn't necessary, but some guys like to do this.
