While the wheel was unloaded, went to loosen the old shock, felt some resistance and snap. No big deal. It’s toast anyway. Went to install the new one, started to tighten and snap. I had a pair of shocks so I installed the other one no problem. The trick was to tighten only once it was on the ground and loaded.
I understand what I did was foolish, breaking not one, but two shock studs. Stems? Whatever it is, can this be salvaged? I’m thinking of taking it to a skilled welder to weld it back on. What do you guys think? Open to suggestions, ideas, ridicule. Throw it at me.
