It will only go to redline if you let it. It is basically a manual car without manually changing gears. You can change gear at basically any time, for instance, if you wanted to be economical and save fuel, the change gears early. If you want to redline and go fast as you can, then let it take you all the way there.
Basically in DS mode, you are in charge of changing gears with 2 disclaimers. If you drop too low in revs it will downshift, and if you go too high in revs it will upshift automatically.
