Please let me bore you a minute with some history of the BMW 1M and the e30 M3. We all know that the e30 M3 was created by BMW Motorsport (homologation) that required 5000 units to be built for road use before BMW could then race the M3. The e30 M3 was the most winning car Ever in the Touring car race class throughout it's production years.

Scroll ahead to 2009 when the then head of the BMW M Group Dr. Kay Segler, planned to build a new M car for the Enthusiast to fill a market below the M3. His is widely considered to be the Father of the 1M. One requirement he had for all the Engineers that worked on the 1M project was to drive the e30 M3 for and extended period and to created a new smaller M car that felt as close as possible to the e30 M3. I think they did a very good job of that indeed.

Some refer to the e30 as the Big Brother, or Grandfather to the 1M. Both cars at least to me are the Holy Grail of the BMW Motorsports group from it's beginnings to current day. I know this isn't anything new, just a reminder
