So many options...
If I did new and needed to haul my kid maybe GTI, if new and 2 seats is OK maybe a Miata, go for it and do a convertible as well. Subaru WRX or STI is a contender but I can't get excited about it, but perhaps the BRZ though.
A 1-2 year old 2-series might do it, or an A3. Maybe time to own a cheap Porsche i.e. Cayman or Boxster. Corvette?
Z's are way, way overdue for an overhaul Mustang / Camaro I feel are cool but too big.
Hell I'm all over the map. Glad I'm not actually faced with this decision.
