No harm in changing oil early. Few of us on here go the full recommended distance. Blackstone Labs has said I'm good for 8k mi, on my engine, using GC 0w-40. So I change it between 6k and 7.5k miles. Not doing the conversion right now, but that's less than 17k km. Dealer reset usually gives me 15k mi interval.
