I've been under warranty a dozen times with my overlays. Most people that work at BMW aren't enthusiast. Most won't realize the different gauge faces.
It also won't give a tampered icon which is all that matters to them.
-also installing the faces takes 5 mins. I would attempt it yourself if they are charging for the install.
