I used it on my Z4. I took the calipers off and the spring steel pieces off the calipers. I did not disconnect the hoses or remove the pads. Looks perfect even after four years.
Only problem is our calipers are already painted so I would imagine there is a little extra prep work to rough up the painted surface. I would try to leave the white BMW letters on the calipers.
