Sounds like it was a software change (or some sort of cooling upgrade or hidden EV AWD benefit?) Maybe driving all four wheels uses less cumulative power than a single RWD motor (to overcome rolling friction or something?) Those'd be my guesses.

2023 has the same battery with a 'usable' rating of 80.7 kWh.
