I was driving through Jersey yesterday during that ridiculous storm and I didn't feel any hydroplaning. As much as I hated the ride of the stock Dunlops, they were really good in the rain. As to the tread pattern, yes they look cool, but I can tell they are going to be really noisy in another 5,000 miles.
They actually get quieter, it took about 3000 miles but the noise level goes down considerably as they wear, believe me...
