The 1 Series was the last of the BMWs that had the driving characteristics of a real "sport sedan," which is something that BMW more or less created, starting with the 1600. It's still a modern car in terms of electronics, but it retains the fun to drive, driving feel of the older cars. Everything they have made since has more resembled driving a powerful Toyota Camry or a generic Hyundai, than what used to be a BMW.
I have a 6MT M2, which is both my most powerful, and least fun to drive BMW, out of the 4 I have in my garage(s). The future for this brand is bleak.
