if you have to do an EPA test, you'll fail.
if you get a thorough roadside inspection, you'll pass because only enthusiasts and mechanics know there should be primary and secondary cats on a N54. ... anyone else is going to see the secondary cats and say "yup, that's catted.".
also, because of the secondary cats, a car with carless downpipes doesn't smell like a car with no cats.
(a straight piped exhaust has a faint fireworks smell)
