It won't, top speed is reached in 5th and you'll need a good wax and a tailwind to hit 170. It is an overdrive gear for fuel economy.
FWIW, I was able to peg the speedometer (160mph indicated, I'm guessing around 150 actual) on the autobahn, and it felt like there was a good amount of pull left in her.
