My 2nd 1er had a production date of April 27, 2010, but was a Model Year 2011 car. So even though yours has a production date in 2011, maybe it's a Model Year 2012, which would make it a Model Year 2012 LCI (facelift) car, and that would explain the headlights and taillights.
If that's not it I dunno...
Maybe it's different in the UK.
