For me it was a matter of eliminating all of the factory plastic connections. Especially since I plan on upgrading my turbo later on, it was worth the piece of mind to have all new piping throughout the system. It was also easier to replace since I was already upgrading the intercooler itself. I don't really think there are any real gains by upgrading the outlet by itself but the peace of mind was worth it for me.
