Octane booster is ok in a pinch but keep in mind it's going to foul the internals of your exhaust valves and exhaust with orange soot as a by product of the chemicals.
Methanol, Race Gas or E85 are the better ways to increase effective octane.
Increasing effective octane only benefits you if you can increase ignition timing or add boost which would normally decrease your knock threshold. On any otherwise stock car it will have little benefit.
