The hopes of lower insurance rates is one of the reasons why I would like to own a 123d instead of a 135i. I'm guessing the collision/loss rate on 123d's would be much lower than for 135i's. I'd guess it would be the same for 128i's compared to 135i's.
Rates really won't get solidly established for a few years until the insurance bean-counters can collect some data. Until then I would expect most insurance companies would start at their 328i/335i coupe rates and adjust according to how much they think they can rip us off.
