I'm helping fix the car. Here is what I've done. I have relearnd the stops. I have checked the camshaft bearing ledge on the inlet side and it is good. I've replaced the solenoids and it ran fine until WOT, then when I parked, I took both exhaust and inlet solenoids out and exhaust rattled, inlet did not. Later on, the inlet started to rattle. What I'm starting to think now is that there is a problem with the engine reaching a high enough oil pressure to fully activate the vanos system, which somehow makes the car run like crap, even after the computer has stopped requesting that high oil pressure. The only think I can think of now is a poorly built solenoid, or there is a oil pressure leak somewhere in the car that doesn't relate to the camshaft bearings.
