The ball joints are identical as far as my eye could tell. The M3 outer tie rods just had longer threads (more toe adjust ability). I used the M3 tie rods that came with my EBAY M3 rack because they had less mileage. I measure how much thread was exposed on my old rack and adjusted the outer tie rod on the M3 rack to match. Got the car aligned for peace of mind and toe was only off about .05* or so (like 1 thread/turn of the tie rod).
