Thanks for the post! The 18x8.5" ET38 is recommended for the front when you're running certain aftermarket coilovers that reduce inner clearance. With most other suspensions, the 18x8.5" ET45 is recommended.

The 18x9" ET42 is a bit too aggressive to work in the rear, and wouldn't maximize all available space within the fender to run the widest possible tire.

We produced the 18x8.5" ET45 front and 18x9.5" ET58 rear specifically for the 1-series, since it makes the best use of all available fender space to allow the widest possible tires with minimal (if any) modification required.
