It automatically chose to start in 2nd gear for you...sends like you didn't need any intervention to actually drive it.
Now to drive it hard you have to "manually" put it into sport mode, which still automatically shifts for you. Is it a manual automatic, semi-automatic or neither? I think this is semantics. If there is no harm to the transmission and you can still get a good launch in 2nd if it is an emergency (no time to manually put in sport mode) then I'm not sure what the harm is. But I do agree with you that I'd rather have learned this from the dealer provided material rather than by surprise. Someone pointed out that alot of other fast sports cars do this...maybe its just a matter of getting used to the idea?
