You might be correct, this is what it looks like with 225/40 tyres on 18x8 et45 wheels and a 5 mm spacer. The part that was rubbing was the top of the two spring collars. If it was one inch higher it would be above the widest part of the tyres but don't think I'll be able to fit wider tyres like I was hoping.

The other alternative would be to use a 6" spring, but would need to be of a much higher rate to prevent spring bind.
