its not a big deal, i don't get why there is a big fuss about this. First gear is only there for manual transmissions to get started. Its somewhat of a useless gear performance wise. If there was a 135, 5 gear and still have the same performance, I would rather have that. First gear is really short and is not anything you're missing out on and 4th gear needs to be longer.
