Agreed with this, I've seen it on my other cars over the years when replacing suspensions, new bump stops (OEM parts) are a little taller than the old ones that come off the car. After getting compressed a bazillion times they just stop spring back completely.

Also agreed w/ all the other comments as well but I think this is the reason for what you see.
