Not heard of this before, but have you charged up the battery and go for a longish drive? It might be just the fluid needing to be pumped around.
Also check the PAS fluid level and top up if required.
I had sometime similar, steering was quite heavy, and it was low on fluid, topped up and it's been fine since.
