The center rib of my Z2 ss tend to look like that- the edge wears down and narrows the rib. Your pressures are 40 psi? I would not run anything more than 35 hot. I find mine happiest around 32-33.
Good luck with the z3 - my z2 ss are calling it quits after some 8 days with at least 3 more worth of tread. Z3 will probably be my next set.
