I may be in the minority, but I really like how the step shifters work. I can keep one hand on the wheel and one hand.. I guess on the shifter because that's where I naturally like to keep it. But if you have something in your hand, it's easy to upshift and downshift just with your one hand on the wheel, pull for upshift, push for downshit.
And the DCT paddles retrofit isn't that hard or expensive to do if that's more your style. I know around here in NJ, Autocouture motoring offered to do it for me for a couple hundred bucks.
